mmmm Saturated fat is yummy. No more Crohns, no more arthritis pains since eating keto/carnivore over the past 6 years. No such thing as needed carbohydrates!
Oh, the irony that a different McGovern was instrumental in creating the dietary guidelines in the 1970's. And his subcommittee started out as an exploration of hunger in America as well. It's a bit like a blast from the past.
I'm glad you covered this subject. It's very revealing that on important issues, government conduct is so much akin to rats running a treadmill, getting absolutely nowhere.
I no longer have any faith at all in any process that includes the government or universities. People like Nina Teicholz and Adrienne Samuels speaking the truth about Nutrition and Food Poisons are the only hope we have.
Big Food sustains metabolic dysfunction so that Big Pharma can treat the symptoms. It's unfortunate federally-funded nutrition programs are their victims. Yet I'm glad Nina continues to fight this battle.
At this point, if you still trust or even care what a government/corporate authority says about anything, you are in a mental coma that from which you will likely never awaken.
You should all know that Tufts University is a huge grant whore, and is Uncle Sam's bitch when it comes to scientific research. It's the de facto Uncle Sam University--been that way for DECADES!
Reading that Tufts (my alma mater) is involved was enough to fill me with dread. Tufts is going big time for cellular meat - made from stem cells. Apparently no awareness of the multiple benefits of 100% grass-fed beef and the regenerative grazing that produces it. For the planet: carbon storage, creation of topsoil, increase in fertility, protection against droughts and floods; for human health - healthy fats, concentrated phytonutrients in the meat; for growing world populations - vastly improved productivity of farmland by introducing ruminants into cropping systems. A peer-reviewed, science bases solution to hunger. How about it, Tufts?
Nina, your work continues to be wonderful. I will crosslink this post to other places on the web where people can use it.
In parallel, you should head over to Bari Weiss' Substack and podcast. Her most recent episode is about how the food system is killing us, with Dr. Casey Means.
As usual, you boldly expose what's really behind the Wizard of Nutrition Oz curtain: big food corporate interests and big for hire government donning yet another mask of "helping people."
Wherefore, White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition & Health?

Sadly, but predictably, this sounds like business as usual. Not much money in realistically helping to make people healthier through improved diets!

Wonderful work thank you Nina as ever.
It's my belief and experience that the biggest energies of transformation are hidden.
They amplify every moment.
I'm pleased to report that people in the UK are increasingly educating themselves about nutrition and mind/body/spiritual health.
There is magical zeitgeist, really happening now :)
Thanks and lots of love to all,
Alan
What a botched mess this is. Where is the opening for real science?
If you eliminate Starch, Sugar, Saturated Fat and Meat...what is left? Grasshoppers in Canola Oil on Salad?

Fu nded by the Rockefeller Foundation says it all about whether or not this is a valid conference on health and nutrition. I vote not.
The optics are maddening, the truth is terrifying.

Nina, you are the light and a true inspiration!
