The AHA is a cash stacking organization. They didn’t even come out against smoking until the 1990s. I think their Director has a bachelors degree in communications from Central Michigan University if memory serves me correct. Not a medical profession anyway.

I stopped giving AHA money not long after my father pass away from coronary heart disease. I took a closer look and didn't like what I saw. (That was more than 15 years ago.)

I am 75 years old, currently 3 months into year 6 of a ketogenic diet. While we started with 20g of carbs in the beginning, we've relaxed that following the findings in Dr. Steven Gundry's book "Unlocking the Keto Code". Carbs are a bit higher, but very little sugar and no seed oils. We eat one meal a day, following a time-restricted eating regimen. Cholesterol is high, but my wife found labs from 1983 when her cholesterol was the same as now and it was considered "Good". All other heart health indicators such as Triglycerides to HDL, 6 minute walk, etc. are better than average. We walk 5k every day, barring lightning or ice, have no prescriptions, and no ailments. We also eat no processed food unless we can identify every ingredient. The great irony is that according to current longevity charts, I'm in my final year, but I have not ever been this healthy in my entire life. There is a very big scam going on between Big Food, Big Pharma, and Health Insurance. Their recommendations and products fatten the populace like cattle in a feed lot, keeping them sick, while providing the drugs to keep them alive. All in the name of profit.

I’m having a version of this discussion in a nutrition group on FB right now. The premise is that we do not require a single carb in the human diet. Not one.

My blood glucose is stable with an 85 mean SD-8 over months of time. I make all the glucose I need with a diet of meat, heavy cream, butter, coffee, and mushrooms.

When I exercise, an aerobic walk, my glucose actually goes up 5 to 10 ...

My heart is happy to burn ketones and glucose from gluconeogenesis, made right here from the human instruction set.

Forget HFLC graduated to HFZC,

The idea that everyone needs fiber popped up in the 1970s. I'm sure that campaign had an ulterior motive, probably perpetrated by cereal companies. Fiber is not necessary.

Yes. I get a small amount of fiber in my diet of meat and occasional berries and mushrooms. I do not need lots of fiber. Fiber is used to support the large microbiome of heavy plant eaters, ruminants, gorillas.

I am a carnivore and my microbiome, through my Vegas nerve tells me it is quite happy. 🦠🍄

Everyone needs fiber. It has nothing to do with cereal companies. You can get it from fruit and vegetables. A quick look at primitive "paleo" conditions shows diets with high levels of fiber.

For the opposing view I read the works of vegetarian Michael Gregor. His books are well referenced with studies. I used to follow Dr Gregor and used his phone app. I do not believe in veganism anymore. It is a cult and makes us sick. But I do respect Gregors work it is quite an accomplishment. He has documented many common foods and their specific pharmaceutical effects.

I don’t believe fiber is a dietary requirement. Human’s can’t digest it, actually ruminants can’t digest it either they feed it to their colonies of bacteria and then digest the bacteria.

Humans stomachs are far to acidic to support that cycle. We have the digestion stomach of carnivores not cows. We get plenty of fiber from the occasional bit of fruit, we do not need it.

No. The heart loves ketones. I’ve improved my heart health on a HFZC diet. I’ve reduced my Pvc Frequency and haven’t had a serious SVT event since 2018.

The two times I was on rigorous keto, my blood picture (already pretty good) improved. I lost about 8 pounds over about 10 weeks, and my blood pressure modestly improved both times.

Over the past two years I have seen a remarkable improvement in my labs, discontinuing all pharmaceuticals and losing 50 pounds along the way, and following a moderate keto diet with IF. I actually started the diet three years earlier, but the meds were preventing me from losing weight, so I discovered.

Why would I pay any attention to these people when it's rather obvious that they are off-track. Worse yet, they are part of one of the "industries" that profits from the sickness, disease, and suffering of others, and they stand to lose if healthiness were to break out. What a "pandemic" that would be!

I had done something similar with keto once before, very successfully, but I eventually ran into complications caused by a GI birth defect that hadn't yet been discovered. This time I compensated for it and I am not seeing any signs of that problem returning.

Another thing I had to get rid of was the cardiologists. They had been playing on my concerns about familial hypercholesterolemia, which runs in my family and of which I have symptoms. I will give them the benefit of a doubt and say that they were misinformed. Very misinformed. Now I have a doctor that focuses on prevention, and encourages things like keto and IF. Such people do exist.

The diabetes-industrial complex is convenient for big government, whose single largest financial liability is the ponzi scheme, er, social security. The food pyramid makes sure that the proles drop dead as soon as they hit retirement age- and spend their life savings on big pharma in the process. What's not to love?

Vegas would love to have those odds.

You are an excellent writer! However, many people are not excellent readers. When they see a ton of words, it’s a turn off, particularly in this age of graphics and videos via the Internet. Readers are not stupid, they just expect the intelligent mind to simplify and summarize. It’s hard to get used to for somebody that is used to saying everything with words. If you summarize your findings using “word graphics” and fewer words, you’ll reach a lot more people.
